PHAU NTAWV KEV TSIV (EXODUS)

-32-

1 Thaum tsoom pej xeem pom tias Mais Xes tsis txawj nqes saum roob los, ces lawv tuaj ntsauv As Loos, lawv hais rau nws tias : “Koj cia li ua ib tug tswv ntuj rau peb teev, kom nws mus ua peb ntej, vim Mais Xes uas nws coj peb tawm Hais Nkws Tos teb los, mas peb tsis paub xyov nws dua twg lawm.”

1 When the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.”

2 As Loos teb rau lawv tias : “Hle nej cov kauj ntseg kub uas nej cov poj niam, cov tub, cov ntxhais coj ntawm pob ntseg, nej nqa tuaj rau kuv.”

2 Aaron said to them, “Take off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me.”

3 Tsoom pej xeem sawv daws hle lawv tej kauj ntseg kub ntawm pob ntseg tib si nqa tuaj rau As Loos. 4 As Loos txais cov kub ntawm lawv tes los, nws muab nchuav hauv yeej vub ua ib tug mlom nyuj. Ces lawv hais tias : “Cov Is Xas Lais, nej ntsia ! Tus no yog nej tus Tswv Ntuj, tus uas tau coj nej tawm Hais Nkws Tos teb los !”

3 All the people took off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. 4 He received what they handed him, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it a molded calf. Then they said, “These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”

5 As Loos pom lawv ua li ntawd, mas nws tsa ib lub thaj txi mlom rau ntawm tus mlom hauv ntej thiab nws ceeb toom rau sawv daws tias : “Tag kis, nej nqaum paj nqaum nruas cav txog HUAB TAIS.”

5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation, and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to Yahweh.”

6 Tag kis, lawv sawv ntxov, lawv tuaj hlawv tsiaj thiab nqa ib co txim tuaj txi lawv tus dab. Tsoom pej xeem tuaj zaum noj mov thiab haus dej, ces lawv sawv mus dhia daj dhia luag lom zem.

6 They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

7 Ces HUAB TAIS hais rau Mais Xes tias : “Koj kav tsij nqes mus sai, vim koj haiv neeg uas koj tau coj tawm ntawm Hais Nkws Tos teb los, twb ua phem lawm. 8 Lawv tos tsis taus, lawv twb maj ncaim ntawm txoj kev uas kuv nyuam qhuav qhia kom lawv taug. Lawv twb nchuav tau ib tug mlom nyuj rau lawv teev, lawv pe, thiab lawv tua tsiaj txi tus mlom. Lawv hais tias : Cov Is Xas Lais, nej ntsia, tus no yog nej tus Tswv Ntuj uas tau coj nej tawm ntawm Hais Nkws Tos teb los.”

7 Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Go, get down; for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves! 8 They have turned away quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.’ ”

9 HUAB TAIS hais ntxiv rau Mais Xes tias : “Kuv pom tias haiv neeg ntawd yog ib haiv neeg xwb qwb txhav dhau. 10 Zaum no, koj cia kuv npau taws rau lawv, kuv yuav muab lawv rhuav pov tseg kom tas, kuv mam li muab koj mus tsim dua ib haiv neeg loj.”

9 Yahweh said to Moses, “I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people. 10 Now therefore leave me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of you a great nation.”

11 Mais Xes ua tib zoo thov nws tus HUAB TAIS Tswv Ntuj kom Huab Tais zoo siab, nws hais tias : “HUAB TAIS, vim li cas koj thiaj li npau taws rau haiv neeg uas koj lub zog loj thiab koj txhais tes muaj hwj huam tau coj tawm ntawm Hais Nkws Tos teb los ? 12 Vim li cas koj xav kom cov Hais Nkws Tos tau kev hnyos tias : ‘Yog koj siab phem koj txhob txwm coj lawv los tuag kom tas nyob pem roob kom lawv txhob tshuav ib tug nyob ntiaj teb ntxiv ?’ Koj thim koj lub siab npau taws ceev thiab tso qhov phem uas koj xav ua rau koj haiv neeg pov tseg mas. 13 Thov koj nco ntsoov txog koj cov tub txib Has Nplas Has, His Xas Has thiab Is Xas Lais, uas koj tau cog lus ruaj rau lawv tias : ‘Kuv yuav ua kom nej cov xeeb ntxwv huam vam coob npaum li cov hnub qub, thiab kuv yuav muab lub teb chaws uas kuv tau hais rau nej, pub rau nej cov xeeb ntxwv, ua lawv tug mus ib txhis.’”

11 Moses begged Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians talk, saying, ‘He brought them out for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the earth’? Turn from your fierce wrath, and turn away from this evil against your people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring† as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ”

14 Ces HUAB TAIS thim xav, nws tsis ua phem rau nws haiv neeg raws li nws tau hais.

14 So Yahweh turned away from the evil which he said he would do to his people.

15 Mais Xes nqes saum roob rov los, nws nqa ob daig txiag zeb Tim Khawv ntawm tes, ob daig txiag zeb ntawd sau ob sab huv si, sab saud thiab sab hauv. 16 Ob daig txiag ntawd yog Tswv Ntuj txaug, cov npe ntawv los yog Tswv Ntuj sau, nws muab txaug rau saum ob daig txiag zeb.

15 Moses turned, and went down from the mountain, with the two tablets of the covenant in his hand; tablets that were written on both their sides. They were written on one side and on the other. 16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.

17 Yos Xuas hnov tsoom pej xeem qw tsheej tsaug, nws hais rau Mais Xes tias : “Muaj suab nrov cuag li sib tua hauv lub yeej !”

17 When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is the noise of war in the camp.”

18 Mais Xes teb tias : “Tsis yog lub suab qw yeej ib nthwv rog, kuj tsis yog lub suab quaj swb ib nthwv rog thiab. Kuv hnov zoo li yog suab hu nkauj sib teb.” 19 Thaum nkawd los txog ze lub yeej lawm, Mais Xes pom tus mlom nyuj thiab tej pab hu nkauj dhia daj dhia luag lom zem. Ces Mais Xes npau taws heev, nws muab ob daig txiag zeb ntawm nws tes pov tseg, ob daig txiag zeb tawg tas ntawm taw roob. 20 Nws muab tus mlom nyuj uas lawv nchuav, pov hlawv hauv hluav taws, nws muab coj los tuav ua hmoov mos mos, nws muab coj mus nphoo rau hauv dej, ces nws yuam cov Is Xas Lais haus cov dej ntawd.

18 He said, “It isn’t the voice of those who shout for victory. It is not the voice of those who cry for being overcome; but the noise of those who sing that I hear.” 19 As soon as he came near to the camp, he saw the calf and the dancing. Then Moses’ anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mountain. 20 He took the calf which they had made, and burned it with fire, ground it to powder, and scattered it on the water, and made the children of Israel drink it.

21 Mais Xes hais rau As Loos tias : “Haiv neeg ntawd ua dab tsi rau koj, vim li cas koj thiaj cia lawv ua ib qho txhaum loj tas npaud ?”

21 Moses said to Aaron, “What did these people do to you, that you have brought a great sin on them?”

22 As Loos teb tias : “Thov koj tus ua Hlob, tsis txhob npau taws, koj paub tias haiv neeg ntawd yeej nkhaus. 23 Lawv hais rau kuv tias : ‘Koj ua ib tug tswv ntuj rau peb teev, kom nws mus ua peb ntej, vim tus Mais Xes uas nws coj peb tawm ntawm Hais Nkws Tos teb los, mas peb tsis paub xyov nws dua twg lawm.’
24 Kuv hais rau lawv tias : ‘Leej twg muaj kub, kom nqa tuaj.’ Lawv muab tuaj rau kuv. Kuv coj mus pov rau hauv hluav taws, ces tus nyuj uas koj pom no thiaj tawm los.”

22 Aaron said, “Don’t let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil. 23 For they said to me, ‘Make us gods, which shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’ 24 I said to them, ‘Whoever has any gold, let them take it off.’ So they gave it to me; and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf.”

25 When Moses saw that the people were out of control, (for Aaron had let them lose control, causing derision among their enemies), 26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on Yahweh’s side, come to me!”

All the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him. 27 He said to them, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate throughout the camp, and every man kill his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.’ ” 28 The sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. About three thousand men fell of the people that day. 29 Moses said, “Consecrate yourselves today to Yahweh, for every man was against his son and against his brother, that he may give you a blessing today.”

30 Tag kis tom qab, Mais Xes hais rau tsoom pej xeem tias : “Nej tau ua ib qho txhaum loj kawg. Kuv yuav nce mus pem roob mus cuag HUAB TAIS, kuv yuav thov HUAB TAIS, tej zaum nws yuav zam rau nej.”

30 On the next day, Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. Now I will go up to Yahweh. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin.”

31 Mais Xes thiaj rov nce mus cuag HUAB TAIS, nws hais tias : “Haiv neeg ntawd ua ib qho txhaum loj kawg. Lawv puab ib tug tswv ntuj kub rau lawv teev. 32 Tab sis thov koj, thov koj ua siab zam rau lawv qhov txhaum. Yog koj tsis kam zam, no thov koj rhuav kuv lub npe tawm hauv phau ntawv uas koj tau sau !”

31 Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, “Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold. 32 Yet now, if you will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out of your book which you have written.”

33 HUAB TAIS hais rau Mais Xes tias : “Tus tau ua txhaum rau kuv, mas kuv yuav rhuav nws lub npe tawm hauv kuv phau ntawv mus. 34 Zaum no koj rov mus, koj coj haiv neeg ntawd mus rau qhov chaw uas kuv tau hais rau koj. Kuv tus Tshiab yuav mus ua koj ntej. Hnub kuv yuav tuaj xyuas lawv, kuv mam li muab txim rau lawv raws li lawv qhov txhaum.” 35 Ces HUAB TAIS muab txim rau tsoom pej xeem, vim lawv tau nchuav tus mlom nyuj, yog tus mlom uas As Loos nchuav rau lawv.

33 Yahweh said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot him out of my book. 34 Now go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, my angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.” 35 Yahweh struck the people, because of what they did with the calf, which Aaron made.
